Workflow on the Icono workstation can take time to master. However, it is well worth the time spent given the power of the functionality and ease of workflow once you understand the ergonomics and logic of the machine. There are too many quick commands to list in series in this section, though all of these will be covered in our videos. Below are some of our favorites to get you started.
Simply put, this button located on the right bottom hand side of the keyboard (where numbers are typically found) will allow you to quickly access your patient browser without having to navigate to the the top section of the screen, select the patient name, and then navigate to the browser.
When manipulating a 3D image you have the following functions that the mouse is capable of doing. Rotation in 3D (spinning the volume in all planes), Zoom and Pan (the ability to magnify and damag an area of interest as well as moving the object into the center of the screen), and In-plane rotation (spinning the image in plane either clockwise or counterclockwise). All of these functions can be achieved with the manipulate tool with the mouse position in different parts of the screen and a combination of right and left clicking. You can use different tools separately from each other, but learning how to use the manipulate tool allows you to achieve these functions without having to return to the menu to have to change the tool selection.
This enables to you to supersede other functionality in order to use the manipulate tool. What does this mean? If you are in the middle of a clip plane and the mouse function defaults to the clip plane movement (as it will), but you want to rotate or zoom/pan the image- in other words use the manipulate tool- simply press this button while you use your mouse to gain the manipulate functionality instead of the default functionality. You can also use this functionality while doing an interactive reconstruction or utilizing the VOI Punch tool.
Autopan chooses a new point as the center of the axis of rotation of a 3D image. You can do this manually by rotating an image around and continually panning it to center the axis of rotation, however this is a quick command section and Autopan is a way to recenter the access of rotation with one click. To find this, access your right click menu and select the Autopan function.
This command in conjunction with a mouse click enables centering of the 3D and all three MPRs on the object selected. If you see a feature on an MPR but cannot find it on the 3D or vice versa, with one click you can center all images on the same point of the object selected.
