Dr. Daniel Sahlein

Dr Daniel H Sahlein is a partner with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine in Indianapolis IN. He trained in the NYU Langone Medical Center triple boards training program completing residencies in neurology, radiology, diagnostic neuroradiology, and interventional neuroradiology under the mentorship of Dr. Peter Kim Nelson. Dr. Sahlein is the NIR director of stroke at Ascension St. Vincent’s Indianapolis, director the national Ascension NIR subcommittee and is the national co-director of neuroscience research for Ascension. He is the director of the Ascension neurovascular resource affinity group. Dr. Sahlein is also the PSO Medical Director for the SNIS/NVQI-QOD neurovascular registries and is on the board of directors of SNIS. These positions enabled Dr. Sahlein to work with amazing physician groups all over the country. Through this work he became increasingly aware of a need for guidance on features of neurovascular imaging and reconstruction. The Siemens Icono in particular offers an extraordinary menu of imaging options in both planar and 3D formats, though knowing where to find menu items and how to implement them can be difficult. This guide is offered as a starting point - to begin a conversation that is meant to end in more refined understanding of disease and by extension procedural and medical management.

Blake Riley R.T. (R), V.I.

Blake Riley is a New Technology Representative with Scientia Vascular, where he brings a unique and creative background to the world of neurovascular imaging. His path into this field has been anything but conventional—but each step has shaped the perspective he brings to his work today.

Blake began his professional career as an X-ray technologist in 2013, before pivoting in 2016 to a completely different path—as a touring bassist with the rock band Lovely the Band, performing internationally until stepping away from the road during the pandemic. Married and raising a young family, he sought a more grounded lifestyle and returned to medicine, training into interventional radiology as a licensed radiologic technologist.

His search for a place to grow both personally and professionally led him to Indianapolis, where he joined the interventional neuroradiology team at Ascension St. Vincent, working closely with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine and Dr. Daniel Sahlein.

Blake quickly found that his background in music translated naturally to the demands of neurovascular imaging. Identifying signal in a 3D frequency histogram, for example, echoed the creative process of mixing audio—finding harmony, isolating what matters, and discarding what doesn’t. The patience and precision required in both worlds are deeply familiar to him. What began as a career change became an unexpected outlet for artistic discipline and innovation.

Now at Scientia, Blake spends his time in labs across the country, absorbing new imaging techniques, supporting advanced casework, and sharing insights—some of which are detailed on this site. His work remains grounded in a single mission: to turn complex imaging into clear understanding.
